The level of significance refers to a particular value or level of PROBABILITY a researcher sets in statistical SIGNIFICANCE TESTING of a HYPOTHESIS, commonly known as ALPHA SIGNIFICANCE LEVEL OF A TEST. By social science convention, researchers report the level of significance at the 0.001, 0.01, 0.05, or 0.10 level of making a TYPE I ERROR, although sometimes a lower or higher level of significance is used.
