Council Of Directors Of School Psychology Programs

Council of Directors of School Psychology Programs (CDSPP) was formed in 1977 to coincide with similar leadership groups representing clinical psychology (Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology [CUDCP]), counseling psychology (Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs [CCPTP]), professional schools (National Council of Schools of Professional Psychology [NCSPP]), and internship organizations (Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers [APPIC]). The mission of the CDSPP is to assist doctoral-level school psychology program directors by:

• Providing a forum for discussion and dissemination of relevant materials
• Promoting and advocating for doctoral-level school psychology training and practice
• Communicating with school psychology organizations such as Division 16 (School Psychology) of the American Psychological Association [Page 123](APA) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)
• Participating in meetings such as the Council of Chairs of Training Councils (CCTC) and the APA Board of Educational Affairs (BEA).

Membership in the CDSPP has grown from 35 membership institutions in 1978 to 103 in 2004. For most of the organization's history, annual meetings were held during the APA annual convention. Under the leadership of LeAdelle Phelps (Chair) and Elaine Clark (Secretary/Treasurer), the CDSPP embarked on a yearly midwinter meeting with the first conference held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on January 31 to February 2, 1997. The midwinter meetings have been highly successful and have been held the last week in January since 1997.
