Nanotechnology Law and Business (NLB) was the first peer-reviewed journal devoted to the legal, business, and policy aspects of nanoscience, and is included in relevant databases such as Westlaw. Interdisciplinary in its scope and intended audience, NLB is intended for an audience made up of members of the growing sector of nonscientists who are engaged by or interested in the nanoscience fields, including business executives, lawyers, regulators and regulatory analysts, policy makers, investors, and academics.

Frequent areas of coverage include the ethical and societal implications of nanoscience; nontechnical coverage of emerging technologies, making note of their commercial applications (real and potential) and market impact; extensive coverage of intellectual property issues; the ongoing discussion of nanoscience regulatory issues and legislative initiatives at the federal and state levels; venture capital and other financing; and international issues. In addition to the peer-reviewed articles, each issue includes book reviews and market reports, and the journal maintains frequently updated databases of licensing agreements, venture capital investments, joint venture arrangements, mergers and acquisitions in the field, lawsuits, and initial public offerings (IPOs).

NLB sponsors include the Arrowhead Research Corporation, Foley and Lardner LLP, Think Equity Partners LLC, Chadbourne & Parke LLP, Bawa Biotechnology Consulting LLC, Buchanan Ingersoll LLP, Nanosys, Sterne Kessler Goldstein Fox, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Porter Wright, Harris & Harris Group Inc., Goodwin Procter, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, Greenberg Taurig, and Barnes & Thornburg LLP. The editorial board includes lawyers, scientists, executives, and investors.
