The First Amendment Lawyers Association (FALA) is an Illinois-based association of attorneys devoted to the First Amendment. Formed in the late 1960s, the group primarily defends clients in the adult entertainment industry against obscenity, zoning, licensing, and other government regulations. FALA, which has more than 180 members, meets twice a year to discuss a variety of current issues in First Amendment law.

FALA regularly files amicus briefs in First Amendment cases before the Supreme Court involving adult entertainment. Such cases have included City of Erie v. Pap’s A.M. (2000); City of Los Angeles v. Alameda Books (2002); and City of Littleton v. Z.J. Gifts D-4, L.L.C. (2004). Former and current FALA members include some of the nation’s finest First Amendment lawyers: Paul J. Cambria Jr., Stanley Fleishman, Elmer Gertz, Wayne B. Giampietro, H. Louis Sirkin, and John Weston.
