Enrolled Bill

The final official copy of a bill that has been passed in identical form by both the Senate and House of Representatives is known as an enrolled bill. It is certified as correct by either the secretary of the Senate or the clerk of the House, depending on where the bill originated, and is then sent on for the signatures of first the House Speaker, next the Senate president pro tempore, and finally the president of the United States. An enrolled bill is printed on parchment-type paper. (See engrossed bill; legislative process.)
