T Test
An inferential test that allows a researcher to determine how likely it is that the difference between two group means occurred as a result of chance rather than as a result of the effect of the independent variable. The t value is calculated by dividing the difference between the means by the pooled sample standard deviation. If the resultant value of t is sufficiently large to exceed the threshold chosen for statistical significance, then the null hypothesis (that there are no differences between the group means) is rejected in favor of the alternative hypothesis (that there are true differences between the two group means).
