Self-Report
A research technique based on a person's own account of his or her behavior. The self-report technique often involves the participant completing a questionnaire. Several limitations of the self-report technique can be identified. For example, a person may bias his or her answers by trying to appear more socially fitting, which is called the social desirability bias. Other limitations include the misunderstanding of questions and the language used to phrase certain questions, which may bias responses.
