Negative actions, behaviors, or prejudice toward others based on race, color, ethnic origin, or nationality. Race discrimination originates from the belief that one race of people is superior to another race of people. Race discrimination is prohibited in education under Title 6 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Because they receive federal funds, most public schools, universities, and colleges are covered under Title 6. As such, they must ensure that services such as admissions, recruitment, financial aid, discipline, athletics, recre ation, housing, grading, and classroom assignments are free of race discrimination.
