Panic Disorder (Education)

An anxiety disorder specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) that is characterized by recurrent panic attacks—severe anxiety with a rapid and unpredictable onset and accompanied by a sense of impending doom, depersonalization, and physical symptoms often confused with a heart attack. In some, this leads to agoraphobia—the avoidance of public places.
