Likert Scale (Psychology)
A rating scale that respondents use to answer a question asking the extent to which they agree or disagree with a particular statement. Likert scales are a popular response type, because they indicate the magnitude or strength of an opinion, as well as its direction. Attitudes elicited by these questionnaire items are often measured on a 7-point or a 9-point scale, where one end-point anchor indicates that the respondent agrees (or sometimes that the respondent strongly agrees) with the statement in question and the other end-point anchor indicates that the respondent disagrees (or sometimes strongly disagrees) with the statement.
