Kinesics
The study of bodily movements, facial expressions, and other such movements as a way of communication, as accompaniments to speech. Kinesics is the study of nonverbal communication. Such nonverbal communication has been studied by the noted anthropologists Ray Birdwhistell, Gregory Bateson, and Margaret Mead. Birdwhistell coined the term after another word of his devising, kineme, his analogy to the linguistic term phoneme.
