Jurisprudence (Sociology)
Traditionally viewed as the study of the principles underlying laws and the legal system. In the current legal system, jurisprudence more commonly refers to the practice of basing judgments of current cases on judgments rendered by the courts in the past for cases characterized by similar circumstances. In this regard, current judgments also become precedents for future cases. This practice ensures the uniformity of the application of the law and of principles of justice and minimizes the discrepancies in judgments delivered by the courts for cases involving comparable circumstances.
