Ideology (Sociology)
A system of ideas, beliefs, values, and doctrines expressed by any given individual, social group, or culture. Ideologies are often considered to be the foundation of any social, economic, or political system. Ideologies shape views, opinions, and behavior. Ideologies exert an influence on actions, as well as the general sense of identity, at both individual and group levels. Ideologies vary according to different types of systems. Ideology has been argued to be a concept that was developed by the Marxist paradigm. Marxists defined ideology as a set of values, beliefs, and ideas adopted by the dominant groups in society to maintain the hierarchical structure in any given community.
