A process of sharing ideas, concerns, and suggestions between people in an organization or organizations with the intention of improving organizational performance. Negative feed back implies criticism within the organization. It helps maintain stability in a system in spite of changes outside the organization. Positive feedback implies constructive, praiseworthy behavior within the organization. It amplifies divergent possibilities (e.g., change of plans) and allows growth and evolution within the organi zation. Positive feedback allows equilibrium to foster in the organization. Examples of feedback in government are elections and the mass media. Examples of feedback in organizations include marketing research and performance appraisals.
