Cultural Diffusion
An anthropological term used to describe the dissemination of cultural elements, such as ideas, rituals, religion, customs, values, norms, beliefs, and language, between two varying cultures. Direct diffusion is when two cultures live in close proximity and share cultural elements. Forced diffusion is when one area is dominated by another area, usually during war, and the victor's culture is forced on the defeated. Diffused culture is when cultural traits are passed from one area to another by an intermediary.
