Acquit
To judge a defendant “not guilty” (which will set the individual free from the criminal charge for which he or she was tried). Once a person is acquitted, all criminal liability is removed. An acquittal is a verdict that stems from judicial proceedings and is but one possible resolution of a criminal trial.
