Some years ago, shortly before an election, I received a copy of the voter’s pamphlet. Included within it were brief statements of each party’s platform, and I was surprised and somewhat amused to see that one party’s statement of purpose included eradicating hate crimes. Like the other position statements—those supporting quality public education, good health care, and a strong economy—this one makes good campaign fodder.
