Summary

Retired Detective Superintendent Andrew Tattersall discusses the history of the murder investigation process. For years, local police forces developed their own investigation techniques that worked well for local crime, but they were not standardized. This became a problem in 1975 when the Yorkshire Ripper started his killing spree and agencies had to work together to get a conviction, resulting in the standardized computer systems and techniques.
