Spain ranks as one of the world leaders in the tourism industry. According to data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), as of 2015, Spain ranked third worldwide in number of international tourist arrivals and second in terms of tourism receipts. The main outbound markets are Europe, led by the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, but with a gradual increase in the presence of other origin markets (the United States and Asian countries).

The tourism sector represents approximately 10% of Spanish GDP, placing Spain around the world average.
