Introduction

In early 2020, Facebook was used by a reported 68.5% of adults in North America, about 65% of adults in Latin America, 54% of adults in Australia, and about 48% of the population in Europe (Internet World Stats, 2020). In these regions (with the exception of a few countries), Facebook is popular among all demographic groups and many people log into the social media platform numerous times throughout the day (e.g. Pew Research Center, 2019).
