The introduction (see Flick, Chapter 1, this Handbook) and the chapters in Part I focused on basic concepts of designing research, which are mostly seen as being open for influences and adaptations in the process of research. Part II turns to theoretical backgrounds and epistemological contexts, which generate old and new questions for the idea of research design.
