As can be noted in this section of the handbook, a key characteristic of action research is its enormous diversity, both when it comes to theoretical points of departure and methodological approaches. There are also an impressive number of attempts at linking AR to other fields, leading to a continuous re-thinking of what the field ‘is’ and what it can and should be.
