Dawn Hill Adams (Choctaw) of the Tapestry Institute reminded us recently about the difference between Indigenous peoples and peoples from the West. To put it simply, Indigenous peoples know the land is alive while those from the West, upon learning this, will often be moved to explain to us that our worldview is just one of many belief systems and that others who are not Indigenous do not necessarily share our belief.
