Why Structure and Agency?

The questions of structure and agency are central to all social sciences. They include questions and debates about stability and change, universality and particularity, habit and creativity, routine action, and deliberation. While anthropology is not the only social science preoccupied with these questions, debates around these questions cannot bypass anthropology's critical contributions, particularly the subfields of cultural and linguistic anthropology.
