Socialism is used as a tool for eliminating poverty from human society. There are numerous advocates of socialism, and the literature on it is enormous. Etymologically, the word socialism is derived from the term socius, which means “society.” Therefore, socialism means a doctrine or a movement concerned with society. The evils of the capitalistic system, the rift between the rich and the poor, the high and the low, has inspired thinkers to express socialist doctrine. Humanism, a sense of justice, fraternity, equality, and dignity of the individual are the canons of socialist ideas. Socialists propose that land and capital should be placed under social ownership for a more equitable distribution, but they have differed greatly on the details and means to make this happen.
