Mother Teresa

During her lifelong service to the poorest of the poor, Mother Teresa became an icon of compassion to people around the world. The work she and her order, the Missionaries of Charity, did in caring for the sick, the dying, and the numerous others nobody else was prepared to care for has been widely recognized and acclaimed, including by receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize. There have been critics, however, who dismiss her work as primitive and self-seeking.
