Lawyers Without Borders
Lawyers Without Borders (LWOB), headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut, was founded by lawyer Christina M. Storm in 2000. At the time, Storm identified a void in pro bono, or “for the benefit of the public,” activities. By organizing volunteer opportunities for legal practitioners, Storm envisioned an internationally recognized platform to exchange and distribute legal expertise for developing countries, postconflict contexts, and transitional scenarios, where there is a need for legal education and information, legal assistance, and advice. By following the imperative of “crossing borders to make a difference,” LWOB’s objective is twofold.
