Burundi

Burundi is a small landlocked country in the Great Lakes region of east-central Africa, sharing borders with Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south, Lake Tanganyika to the southwest, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to the west. The Republic of Burundi is approximately 27,834 square kilometers in area (10,745 square miles), with a population of approximately 8,749,000, making it the second most-densely populated country in sub-Saharan Africa. Burundi is comprised of ethnic groups including the Hutu (85 percent), Tutsi (14 percent), and Twa (1 percent), similar in makeup to neighboring Rwanda. Burundi is a presidential republic run by President Pierre Nkurunziza. The capital of Burundi is Bujumbura, and its official languages are Kirundi and French, with many also speaking Swahili. ...
