Therapist Training

Although many psychology graduate programs offer a course devoted to working with the LGBTQIA+ population as an elective, it is rare to find a course specific to working with the trans population, let alone one that is required of all students. Gender dysphoria is typically briefly covered in courses on psychopathology and mental health, and gender identity development is often reviewed in developmental psychology courses, yet further training is required to truly understand the complexities related to the care of those who grapple with gender dysphoria.
