Integral Eye Movement Therapy
Integral eye movement therapy (IEMT) is a method for reducing the intensity of negative emotional experiences. Based on eye movement integration therapy, this therapeutic approach utilizes a number of procedures to identify relevant key experiences in the client’s personal history. While concentrating on one of these key experiences, the therapist instructs the client to move his or her eyes and track the movement of the therapist’s pen or finger. Duration of sessions may be as short as 5 to 20 minutes or may be longer if the problem is more involved, such as when the client is struggling with identity issues.
