Pain Disorders
Pain is a sensation or feeling—it can range in intensity from a mild, uncomfortable feeling to a state of great agitation and suffering. Pain can be physical or psychological, but it is often both. Some people experience chronic pain, and their treatment regimens are quite different from those with temporary symptoms.
Acute Pain
People in acute pain experience quite severe symptoms. Pain can make a patient vomit, scream, experience unbearable sensations, and feel as though they cannot find any relief. Often, people in acute pain have serious medical issues, such as broken bones, recovery from surgery or childbirth, or serious cuts or burns.
