Curandero

Curanderos are the traditional Native American and Hispanic shamans and healers found primarily throughout the Americas. Through the progression of the 19th and 20th centuries and into the current era, curanderos moved from a concentration with the Native American communities into an increasingly equal population within the Hispanic community. This continues to spread as immigration increases. While curanderos historically are found in indigenous and Hispanic cultures and traditions, recent changes in immigration from eastern and southern European regions have expanded to encompass these diverse traditions.
