The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) is the largest country in the Horn of Africa and the second most populous country in Africa, with a population of nearly 108 million. Ethiopia’s official language is Amharic although Afaan Oromo is also widely spoken across the western, central, and southern parts of the country. A federation of nine ethnically organized regional states, FDRE, since 1991, has been ruled by the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front through a semi-authoritarian political design and a mixed economy program. Ethiopia follows a parliamentary democratic system with national elections held every 5 years.
