Family life educators create and implement educational interventions that are aimed at strengthening individuals and families. The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) is the primary professional association for the understanding and strengthening of families. This membership organization offers several benefits to family life educators and also sponsors the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) credential. Certified family life educators have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and preparation and experience in family life education settings. CFLEs work in a variety of settings including adoption agencies, marital and premarital programs, educational settings, family law settings, caregiver and long-term care education, public policy settings, and nonprofit administration.
