The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) is the accrediting agency for counselor training programs in the United States and across the world. CACREP aims to promote the counseling profession through the establishment of standards that guide program development and ensure quality counselor education. CACREP accredits master’s level counseling programs in the specialty areas of (a) addiction counseling; (b) career counseling; (c) clinical mental health counseling; (d) marriage, couple, and family counseling; (e) school counseling; and (f) student affairs and college counseling. In addition, CACREP is the accrediting agency for the doctoral-level counselor education and supervision program.
