Cognitive-Behavioral Family Therapy

Cognitive-behavioral family therapy (CBFT) was developed by a diverse group of therapists who integrated cognitive approaches and interventions to use with couples and families. CBFT can be defined as a family systems approach based on the premise that the thoughts and behaviors that influence one family member have the potential to simultaneously influence other family members as a whole. The thoughts and behaviors of one family member can drastically continue the cycle of family dysfunction or prohibit change within the family system.
