Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychological assessment is a specialized form of assessment in which a trained clinician integrates the results of standardized cognitive, motor, and other tests with additional sources of information. Neuropsychology is a subspecialty within the area of clinical psychology that involves advanced postdoctoral and clinical training in the areas of cognitive assessment, brain-behavior relationships, neuroanatomy, and basic clinical neurology. In some cases, trained neuropsychologists may have additional expertise in the assessment of psychiatric conditions, such as anxiety or mood disorders, as well as developmental conditions, such as learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.
