Placebo Effect
Placebo refers to a procedure, agent, or treatment that, on the surface, should have an inert or no therapeutic impact. The placebo effect is the response an individual has to the introduction of a placebo. The word placebo comes from a Latin verb connoting “I shall please.” Medical history contains numerous accounts of the use of placebo to address and treat the troubles and desires of patients throughout the recorded history of the world.
