Society for Research Into Higher Education

The United Kingdom’s Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE) is the oldest and the largest higher education research society in Europe and in the Commonwealth. It was founded in the wake of the Robbins Report on Higher Education, the formative report which framed higher education up to the 1980s, which was published in 1963, a time of overwhelming excitement over the future development of higher education. In 2017, the SRHE had 930 members, and its annual conference drew 430 attendees to an agenda which included 250 research papers.
