University Presses
University presses are academic publishing houses that are part of a university. University presses perform many of the same tasks as any other publishing house; the primary difference is the mission of these publishers. While academic publishers and other specialized publishers make up a significant share of the commercial publishing industry, for many commercial publishers, the primary focus is on making money by publishing popular content for a broad audience. In contrast, the mission of a university press is to publish work that is often scholarly in nature for a much smaller, niche audience of specialists.
