Technology in Early Childhood Education
In 2012, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media at Saint Vincent College issued a joint position statement titled Technology and Interactive Media as Tools in Early Childhood Programs Serving Children From Birth Through Age 8. The statement is grounded in the developmentally appropriate practice framework (Copple & Bredekamp, 2009) and defines effective, appropriate, and intentional use of technology and media with young children. The principles and guidelines provide guidance to the field and for early childhood educators and caregivers on the selection, use, integration, and evaluation of technology tools for learning in early childhood settings.
