Self-Report Inventories

The systematic assessment of individuals is an essential element of many psychological processes. Whether collecting information for diagnostic evaluation, assessing sentiments and motives, or determining treatment efficacy and outcomes, the availability of reliable and valid information is the key to finding accurate answers. There are four information domains from which information can be obtained, referenced by the acronym LOTS. (1) L stands for life outcome data and captures specific life experiences, such as whether an individual graduated from college or the number of times an individual was ill in the past year.
