Female Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder

Because of disparate biological underpinnings and treatment approaches, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), divided sexual dysfunction into gender-specific categories. Although the diagnosis hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) continues for male-related desire problems, female sexual interest/arousal disorder (FSIAD) replaced HSDD and female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD) from the previous edition, DSM-IV-TR (fourth edition, text revision).
