Ovary, Absence of One

The ovaries are part of the female reproductive system. There are normally two, one on each side of a woman's lower pelvis. The ovaries are responsible for producing the eggs that are released during a female's menstrual cycle as well as the production of the female sex hormones, estrogen and progesterone. Fertilization of the egg by a sperm will result in pregnancy.
