Argentina

Argentina is one of the largest countries in Latin America, located in southern South America. In 2010, its population was 40,117,096. It has rich natural resources, an export-oriented agricultural sector and a differentiated industrial production. In 2010, the annual growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) was 9.2 percent. GDP per capita (calculated in current U.S. dollars) was $9,124. Official estimates (whose methodological rigor has recently been challenged by different academic and nonacademic organizations) indicate that, for the first semester of 2011, 8.3 percent of the population living in urban areas was below the poverty line.
