Jordan

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan shares borders with Iraq, the West Bank and Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. Measuring approximately 34,363 square miles (89,213 square kilometers), Jordan has a population of about 6.5 million people. According to the World Bank, the 2011 gross national income (GNI) per capita was $4,380, and the 2010 primary school enrollment was 92 percent. Secondary school participation from 2007 to 2010, according to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), was 80 percent for males and 83 percent for females. Youth literacy rates measured from 2005 to 2010 were 99 percent for both males and females, according to UNICEF.
