THE LIBERAL PARTY of Hong Kong (HK) is an influential, conservative political force in the Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It stands for Hongkongian business and is a strong proponent of compromise and cooperation with mainland China.

The Liberal Party (LP) was formally established on June 18, 1993, by tycoons, businessmen, bankers, and administration office-holders connected with HK Cooperative Resources Centre. “Focus on Economy; Concern for Livelihood” was adopted as the key political platform. Allen Lee Pengfei became the first party chairman. The Liberal Party actively participated in the HK Legislative Council elections of 1995, 1996, 1998, and 2000, winning a total of 10 seats (from 60) as an average.
