Mubarak, Hosni (1928–)

Mohamed Hosni Said Mubarak was born on May 4, 1928, in Kafr-El Meselha, Al-Menoufeya governorate. He graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy and the Air Force Academy in 1952. Later on, in 1964, he studied at the Frunze Military Academy in the USSR.

Mubarak went up the chain of command, holding the positions of pilot, instructor, squadron leader, and base commander. In 1964, he headed the Egyptian military delegation to the USSR, and during 1967 to 1972, he was appointed director of the Air Force Academy and chief of staff of the Egyptian Air Force.
