Health Utilities Index Mark 2 and 3 (HUI2, HUI3)

The Health Utility Index Mark 2 and 3 (HUI2 and HUI3, collectively referred to as HUI2/3) are generic preference-based health status measures designed to provide utility scores for health outcomes evaluation. The HUI2/3 measure is generic, applicable to a wide range of conditions, treatments, and populations. Preference-based design provides a single-summary numerical score for each health state defined by the instrument. This form of presenting health outcomes is particularly useful in economic evaluation, where a single index of health-related quality of life that summarizes health status utilities is needed.
