In this chapter we welcome you to the SAGE Handbook of Qualitative Geography, and describe what we believe to be the significant issues and challenges for qualitative human geography in the twenty-first century. Our goal for this volume is to introduce scholars, both veteran and novice, to the world of qualitative geography, and to engage them in the collective and collaborative process of forwarding qualitative geography in the twenty-first century.
